Greetings
This month's newsletter =mediamag e-zine = is chock full of information on the latest news on media in Alberta, changes in key media personnel, media events such as the upcoming Canadian Association of Journalists National Conference in Edmonton this May, the Editors' Association National Conference this June and media courses that will keep your communication skills sharp.
You'll also find two feature articles of interest. One on the State of News Media in 2008 and another on Social Media Releases or how to make your pitch directly to the public using social media platforms such as YouTube, Flickr and the like.
We have summarized some of the articles below that you'll find in the newsletter now posted to the website in the EZINE section. We still need to work on the layout of the newsletter as we are still wrestling with the new program we are using, but for now, you'll find the content all there.
You'll notice a new look to the website. Over the last few months we have redeveloped the website to incorporate Web 2.0 technologies such as bookmarking facilities, RSS feeds and such. We haven't quite finished the changeover yet but we think it's presentable enough for the time being. We did not want to hold up the newsletter any longer. We will send you a notice when we have completed the makeover. We will have some more exciting announcements for you then. Stay tuned!

Get Your Next News Release Out Free!
Announcing our newest service we've been working on since October. Alberta's first media release posting website at www.medianews.ca is now at your service! We invite you to post your next news release on this site during our beta testing period from now until April 30, for free!
All that we ask in return is that you complete the short survey after you have posted your release to provide us with the necessary feedback so we can fine-tune the process. Everyone who posts their news release on this site from now until April 30 will be included in our (also new!) weekly newswire service distribution to media outlets in Alberta.
If you post your release between now and April 11, we will include the abstract of your release of your release in our April 14 distribution. If you post your release between April 14 and 18, we will include your abstract in our April 21 distribution. If you post your release between April 21 and 25, we will include your abstract in our April 28 distribution, for free!
You'll find more details and how to information at www.medianews.ca. You'll first have to register for an account and confirm your email address before you can post your release.

| Subscribe to Alberta Media Online
We will have finished a complete update on the online media directory by April 5. It took us longer than usual as a result of so many changes in media outlets (new radio and television stations and new Alberta magazines) and the fact that so many companies had changed their email addresses as a result of new websites. To celebrate the completion of the update, if you order a subscription before April 5, you will be able to attend our next Mega Media Publicity Workshop on April 9 in Edmonton and April 16 in Calgary for free OR you can order a free media release distribution by email in Edmonton or Calgary at no charge (valued at $125). We will also send you the release so you can upload it to your website.
- $100 for a monthly self-service subscripton
- $300 for an annual self-service subscription
- $500 for a monthly full service subscripton (includes the distribution of up to 3 releases during the subscription term)
- $800 for a annual full service subscription (includes the distribution of up to 8 releases during the subscription term
Full service subscriptions include media release distribution services and access to the online media directory so they can follow up on the release with reporters. |
If we can ever be of service in helping you get your news out to the mainstream media, social media networks and to your audience, do not hesitate to call us at (780) 695-5675. Getting the news out is our specialty! | |
